Eastern Canada mapOn August 5, 1999, a group of Kitfox pilots led by John King of Warrenton, VA took off en-mass from the Eastern US seaboard.  Destination: All of Eastern Canada.

This group of skilled aircraft builders and pilots  toured the provinces of eastern Canada, including the maritime provinces, by flying their own Kitfox airplane. Many of the pilots built their Kitfoxes with their own hands, and some have won awards for their aircraft.

The route has taken the flyers through New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Labrador and back through Quebec. Along the way they visited interesting sights, and got to know the area like no ground-bound tourist could.

This web site was updated with reports and photos from the group as they experienced it. Members of the group had digital cameras and laptop computers to document the trip, and each day they sent these reports and photos for viewing here.

Special Announcement

Don Lorenzen, a pilot from Missoula, Montana, is performed a fund-raiser on the trip for  a very worthy cause. Here is a recent message from Don:

"As part of my trip, I'm doing a fund raiser for a local police officer,
 Bob Heinle & family. "

" Bob was made a quadriplegic last fall after being wounded by a single
shot fired by a fleeing kid [who'd attempted to hold up a small shop].
The round lodged in his neck and damaged his spinal connection with
tragic effect.  If anyone is interested in pledging a small amount per
 mile flown
please call the Missoula PD, 406 523-4682.  I'm working with  the local police chief; all money raised goes to his family.   Note -  from Missoula, MT to Oshkosh, then the east coast, Canada and return  will be about 6000-7000 miles, so a 1/2 cent pledge would equate to  $30-35 dollars - a max pledge amount is therefore requested."

"Too often events like this occur and once off the news headlines, the
 person is forgotten.
Well, Bob & Lisa and their 2 children have this to handle the rest of  their lives.  He's 32 years old.  The 19 year old criminal?  Well, he  was tried and after showing no remorse was sentenced to life without  option of parole."

Please help Don help this family. Don is the pilot on this trip who will be sending photos and reports to update this web site. Don is being very generous with his time and energy to make this web site possible - perhaps you can repay that by pledging any amount you can.
